Long a training center in group psychotherapy, we offer brief groups and long term groups for individuals and for couples.
Here is a menu of the groups we offer:
- The Individual Groups: an intense psychodynamic group for high functioning adults working on personality development, this group has been in existence since 1980. For career folks and for folks traveling from Baltimore and Manhattan and points in between, we meet monthly or twice monthly. Lunch, dinner or snacks are served to enhance a community devoted to change.
- The Transition Group: This time limited group week group introduces adults to group therapy work, and provides a brief experience in cognitive, behavioral group therapy. It frequently meets in the spring of each year.
- Advanced couples: Couples who need advanced work are invited into a three to five couple group meeting monthly for eleven months, six hours per meeting. The group customarily meets on Sunday and lunch is served. Intense interpersonal change occurs for couples who are abusive, unable to negotiate effectively, experience sexual dysfunction, suffering under emotional tragedy. This clinical community has transformed couples relationships since 1985. It has been the topic of a cover story for the New York Times magazine, in August 2008.
- The Couples Intimacy and Sexuality Group: This 4 couple group works with problems and blocks to intimacy and sexual pleasure. It meets twice monthly for 2 one half hours for 11 months. It has successfully helped couples with erection problems, vaginismus, affairs, lack of sexual desire, and emotionally distant relationships. It has been meeting since 1997.
- The Women's Group: A group for women has met monthly for high functioning, bright women needing to work through low self esteem, poor body image, divorce, abuse, life planning, depression, anxiety, and addiction. This warm and compassionate community allows women to transform parts of themselves and to create the lives of their dreams.
- Lean on Me: Long known for work in eating control for overweight women. This program combines cognitive behavior therapy, self-image work, and nutritional information into a group format which is based on both face and telephone contact. The depth of support is necessary for women with hardcore metabolic concerns in weight management and eating control.
