The postgraduate internship program at the Coché Center began in 1987. This page gives you needed basic information. For more information, please call and ask for Dr. Judith Coché or email tcctcs@earthlink.net.
Barter for Service The internship is an "even" trade: learning for service. No money changes hands. Time Contracts run between early September and early August. The weekly time involved ranges between two and six hours. Supervision Group meetings are required for all interns. Individual supervision is available weekly or as needed. Co-Therapy Interns become co-therapist in actual therapy groups, co-led with Judith Coché, Ph.D. (A.B.P.P, F.A.G.P.A.) or a fully credentialed group psychotherapist. Accreditation The internship meets certification training requirements and can be coordinated with certification training courses. Group Specializations Available: Long Term Psychotherapy Psychodynamic group psychotherapy for adults, meeting 1 ½ hours weekly for six or eleven months. Brief Psychotherapy Ten week sessions, 1 ½ hours per session. The group focuses on transitional life issues. Couples Psychotherapy Dual gender co-leadership in an intense group for couples. Meetings are twice monthly for 2 ½ hours. Group format combines process work with structured exercises. Application Process: Who gets the internships? Applicants need an M.A., M.S.W., R.N., Ph.D., or M.D. and a high level of motivation to learn group psychotherapy. Applicants are evaluated on their level of previous expertise, their motivation to excel, and their potential in contributing as group therapists. Submissions Applicants need to submit the following information: current C.V., three references, and a letter of intent indicating the function of the internship in their career development. Applicants will be selected based on written credentials, references, and personal interview. Length of Internship Each internship is one year. Interns are invited to re-apply for a second internship in the same or in a different area of specialization. A two-year training program is suggested to maximize professional development.
